Waste Audit

A second waste audit was completed by the Green Schools Committee in November. In contrast to our first audit completed in January, there has been huge improvement as you can see from the graphs below. The main type of waste identified in the audit is now ‘other’ which mainly consists of hand-towels. To tackle this form of waste, the hand-towels and soap dispensers have been replaced by Eco-friendly systems where hand towels can now be recycled.

The pupils of first and second class had a fantastic day at Clara Lara Funpark! With the added bonus of glorious weather, the pupils had great fun trying all the different activities which included a number of tree houses, tarzan swings, rope bridges, rowing boats, water slides, rafts, canoes, junior go-carts and mini golf.

Working at the Vets

vet visit

Last October, we were learning about people and animals in S.E.S.E.  To learn more about the work at a veterinary clinic, we asked Fiona in to tell us about working at the vets. We got to ask lots of interesting questions such as what type of animals do they look after at the vets,  what kind of work do they do on farms and what was the strangest animal they ever treated.  Fiona told us loads of interesting facts about animals and useful tips on how to look after them.  At the end of the talk, Fiona gave us each a very kind thought of the day to take home based on ten things our pets would want us to remember. Thanks to Fiona, we all really enjoyed the talk!
