Last week of school-Miss Doyle JI 22nd-25th June
Hello everyone,
It is hard to believe we have reached the last week of this very different and unexpected school year. Well done to all of the boys and girls for their hard work and kindness throughout the year-seeing your big smiles every day from September to March and seeing photos of your learning since March made me a proud and happy teacher. I have loved being your teacher and look forward to seeing all the great things you do in the future. Well done all you superstars!
To all the parents, thank you for your support and dedication since the school closed. I know it has been very difficult for you all but I appreciate your help in continuing the children’s learning and enjoyed speaking to many of you via email.
I wish you all a happy and safe Summer,
Miss Doyle
Below I have listed some activities for you to choose from this week. We are taking a well-earned break from academics and having some fun. As always if you want to send me photos or have any questions or concerns my email address is katiedoylestjosephs@gmail.com.
Activity 1
Memories Poster
Print the page below or draw a similar template. Draw a picture in each box and chat about your memories of junior infants.
Activity 2
Create a board game
Print or draw the template below and decorate. You could write tricky words in some of the boxes or draw a symbol in some boxes so that if you land on that symbol you have to do an action. Enjoy playing your game with your family.
Activity 3
Be the teacher
It is your turn to be the teacher! Think of something you are good at that you could teach the people in your house. If you wish you can complete the lesson plan below. Set up a mini classroom and make sure your students are ready to learn.
Activity 4
What have you learned?
Draw or write about what you have learned this year.
Activity 5
Roll and draw
Roll a dice and check the grid to choose each part of your monster. Add your own ideas if you wish!

Hello everyone,
This week we will be doing some school work from Monday to Thursday-English on Monday and Wednesday and Maths on Tuesday and Thursday. I am also suggesting some ‘Wellness Week’ activities that you could do along with/instead of the school work. I hope you have enjoyed seeing your artwork and writing shared on the website and that you have enjoyed seeing what your friends have been up to. Parents, if you would like to share more photos this week you can email me on katiedoylestjosephs@gmail.com. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Have a great week everyone!
Monday:
- Picture and writing page: parents; remember to encourage your child to write a sentence independently.
Picture and writing pages-the zoo
- Revise tricky words 1-24 in your tricky word booklet
Tuesday:
- Roll and colour worksheet
Wednesday:
- Roll and read game-roll a dice and read a word on the corresponding line. Cover the word when you read it. The first to fill an entire row wins.
- Sight words worksheet-read the word and draw the picture.
Thursday:
- Story-Ten in the Bed-Count the toys on each page while you listen to the story.
Wellness Week:
- Happiness jar-Take a container or jar and decorate it. Put a container of small objects beside the jar. Throughout the week when something makes you feel happy put an object into the jar. At the end of the week look at how full your jar is and talk about the things that made you feel happy. You could also use small pieces of paper or post-its and draw or write about the things that make you happy.
- Random acts of kindness-do something kind for someone else everyday. Colour one flower for each act of kindness.
- Have a dance party with your family. After your dance party put your hand on your chest where your heart is. Is your heart beating faster?
- Virtual school tour of Dublin Zoo.
The file below contains instructions for a virtual tour of Dublin zoo including questions to talk about, a worksheet, actions and exercises and links to videos of Dublin Zoo. If you have a problem opening this file I have also included the video links and the worksheet on its own below.
