The work listed below (Monday 18th – Friday 22nd May) is a general guideline and you can choose activities that suit. Just try your best! Pretend you are either a first, second or third class passenger on board the Titanic. Write a diary entry for a day on the ship. It could be the day you left, a regular day or the day the ship sinks. Talk about what you see, who you are with, what you do, how you are feeling and where you are going. *Remember, a diary is a personal book that you write in. A diary entry on a particular day can include all sorts of information including; how you were feeling, what you ate, who you spoke to, what you did, what you saw or what happened*

  • Make an obstacle course if possible – running, climbing, jumping, crawling, balancing, add in a water filling task and use some of your maths skills etc.

• Achieve gold: 80 bounces
• Achieve silver: 60 bounces
• Achieve bronze: 40 bounces

SPHE: Complete a gratitude journal. A gratitude journal is a book where you write at least three things that you are grateful for at the end of each day. At the end of your diary entry on each day, write down three things you are grateful for.

Ask at home if there are any jobs you could do to help out. Learn to hang clothes on the line/set the table/sweep and wash the floor. Complete a random act of kindness each day!

1) Continue working on dolch list one – the, to, and, he, a, I, you, it, of, in, was, said, his, that, she, for, on, they, but and had! Flashcards are great for these take 5 at a time and when they know them move on to next five.

2) Go to https://www.ateachableteacher.com/online-sight-words-games  it has 10 online games to teach sight words are free and super interactive and enjoyable.

3) Snip activity per fortnight plus a spelling test.

4) Continue toe by toe.

5) Continue Lexia and Maths Made Easy!

6) Reading at your own level with no more than 3 words per page that are difficult.

Science: Think about the numerous animals that inhabit the seas and oceans around our world; whales, sharks, dolphins, jelly fish, seals, turtles, fish etc. Choose any sea creature you like and see what you can learn about them using Kids National Geographic  or any information you may have at home in a book.Write down 6 interesting facts about your chosen animal and draw a picture.

Visual Art: Below is a painting inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s sunflowers. Draw and paint (or colour) your own version of a vase of sunflowers based on Van Gogh’s painting. If you are feeling creative you could use crepe paper for the petals and black peppercorns for the centre of the flower.

Religion: Remember to keep your Reconciliation Workbook in a safe place. Continue with your Prayers and Mass Responses.

God has given every person gifts and talents. What gifts and talents do you have? Write about your gifts and talents. Write your own prayer of thanksgiving for your gifts and talents.

  1. Continue Snip, one per fortnight and do a weekly test.
  2. Toe by Toe daily until the children get three consecutive dots.
  3. Print off Dolch List one and do five words a night until they know all five! Ms Murphy normally writes then on flash cards and when they get it right she puts a dot on the back! If they get three dots she puts them into an envelop to go over again at a later date. If you log onto https://www.enchantedlearning.com/dolch/worksheets.shtml
  4. You can access dolch lists and activites based on them. Dolch High Frequency words represent 220 words that make up between 50 and 75% of all print in English and therefore is so important.
