Aistear is gone to Africa!

During the month of January we learned about Ella’s visit to Africa. In the classroom we set up African market stalls, made tribal jewellery, fruit and vegetable jigsaws, completed cut and stick activities, played a fruit and vegetable shopping list game, made fruit and vegetables with playdoh and also did some fruit printing.

Here is some other art work we enjoyed doing:

The Vet’s Surgery – Room 1

Our aistear theme for February was the vet’s surgery. At the role play station we had great vets, receptionists and animal owners. At the small world station we used blocks and Lego to create homes for the animals. At the fine motor station the children enjoyed using the animal stencils and creating animals with playdoh. At the art station each child made a paper plate pet.

We created different pet animals using paper plates:

We also created a 2d shape book:

Christmas in Junior Infants, Room 1

Our Aistear theme for December was Santa’s workshop. At the role play station we were very busy elves designing toys, making toys, wrapping presents and filling in elf reports. At the construction station we had great fun designing and building Santa’s workshop and sleigh. At the playdough station we completed Christmas themed playdoh mats and also did lots of Christmas art.

Here is our door decoration “Elf Yourself” for the school door decorating competition. Thanks to Mrs. Armstrong for her help and to the boys and girls who made the lovely Christmas lights. We had great fun becoming elves!!

Look at all our lovely Christmas jumpers!

Congratulations to the selection box winners!

Merry Christmas from everyone in Room 1!
