Mr O’Brien 6th Class: 11th May – 15th May

Hi 6th Class,

I hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the good weather! Thank you to all of you who have been in contact with me and sent me your work to check. It has been great to hear from you!

This week is a little bit different as I have split the work into daily amounts. Each day you will have about 30-40 minutes of English, Gaeilge & Maths and then one further subject. It might be best to set your mornings out like this if possible so you are finished your work by midday and can then enjoy the rest of your day.

Time Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
9.00 – 9.40 Gaeilge Gaeilge Gaeilge Gaeilge Gaeilge
9.40 – 10.20 English English English English English
10.20 – 10.30 B R E A K
10.30 – 11.10 Maths Maths Maths Maths Maths

Set aside your time each day and work through the activities as best you can. This is great preparation in terms of learning how to organise and manage your time. Again, you do not have to complete all the work in each subject but you should be spending about 2 hours/2 hours 30mins on the work that has been given. Concentrate when you are doing it and try stay away from all distractions.

Once again if there is anything that I can do to help you please let me know. My email is: stjosephssixthclass20@gmail.com

I hope everyone is keeping safe and I’m looking forward to seeing all your great work again this week!

Transition to Secondary School from 6th Class

WEBINAR -Transition to Second Level – An Adventure and a Challenge.

An extra  Webinar on the Transition to Second Level has been added – An Adventure and a Challenge  on Wednesday 20th of May @ 7pm as the 13th of May is now fully booked.

Title. Transition to Second Level – An Adventure and a Challenge.

The transition from Primary to Secondary school is an exciting time in a young person’s life. It also comes at a key developmental stage, a fact not lost on parents as they come to terms with the arrival of the teenage years. Over the last 20 years I have played a key role in developing the transition programme for my own school, delivered our induction programme to incoming first years and supported parents through parent evenings. An information pack supporting this webinar will be available to all participants. Key areas addressed are

  • Junior Cycle what’s new.
  • Supporting teens to manage change.
  • Identifying common areas of concern and how to prepare for them.
  • Troubleshooting and where to go for support.
  • Embracing change and being open to new opportunities.
