Gaelic Leagues – 1st & 2nd class
All children in 1st and 2nd class were randomly assigned a county as their team for Gaelic Leagues. The 10 counties played 10 games after which we had two exciting semi-finals and a final between Wexford and Galway. The rest of the children chose a team and cheered them on from the sidelines. Galway were the winners this year but there was some very promising talent among all of the teams.
Green School Energy Week
As part of our Green School’s campaign, we had a Green School Energy Week. This took place from Monday April 30th to Friday May 4th, ending in Green Day when pupils were asked to wear green to school.
We had a Green Schools slogan competition with one senior winner and one junior winner. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in both categories will get a prize sponsored by the Parents’ Council. Winners announced shortly.
Classes also learned about renewable and non-renewable energy and ways of saving energy. Some classes played a game available from Wexford County Council and provided by SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) to further consolidate this.
As part of our policy, two energy wardens from each class fill out an Energy Warden Checklist daily.
Pupils were also made aware of an energy talk in Gorey Library on May 15th. This talk was given by Three Counties Energy Agency. A link to their website can be found here.
The pupils learned an energy kit can be borrowed from Gorey Library. This kit helps with saving energy in the home. It is sponsored by SEAI.
Well done to everyone for their hard work.

World Book Day
World Book Day 2018 takes place on Thursday, March 1st. As part of this event we are encouraging children (and parents) to enjoy the pleasures of reading and SHARE A STORY on World Book Day… and every day. Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their outcome and it’s fun for all involved. You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.
