Miss Doyle Junior Infants 8th-12th June

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a good week.

This week we are focusing on English and Maths again. Remember, the work set out below is just a guideline-do as much or as little as you can. Once the children revise their sight and tricky words and counting they are doing well.

If you have any questions or concerns you can email me at katiedoylestjosephs@gmail.com.

If you would like your child’s artwork, writing, etc. shared on the website feel free to send me a photo.

English:

Writing

  • Picture/writing worksheets below. Just like last week talk about the picture, read the sentences and then write your own sentence(s) about the picture.

Parents-encourage your child to try to write the sentence independently. You could write down some key words for them to choose from. Help them to place the letters correctly on the lines-small letters sitting on the bottom line and stretching up to the centre dotted line. Tall letters sitting on the bottom line and stretching up to the top line.

Miss Doyle Junior Infants 2nd-5th June

Hi everyone,

I loved seeing all of your ‘Flat Stanley’ pictures last week and reading about the adventures you went on together. If you want to see what your friends have been up to look at the last post on our class page. You can also see and read about what Everywhere Bear has been doing. He is staying here with me in my house and is being a very good little bear! He loves to see all your great work!

For the next couple of weeks we will be working on English and Maths only, with some activities and games to practice our reading, writing and maths while still having fun.

Parents-As always you can email me with the children’s work or with any questions-my email address is katiedoylestjosephs@gmail.com. If you would like to send me a photo of the children’s writing or arts and crafts I will share them on the website.

Note re: School Tour-I will return any money collected for the school tour in September.

Have a great weekend everyone,

Miss Doyle

Sentence writing:

  • Instead of dictation this week we are going to look at, talk about and write about a picture. The file below has two pages-each has a picture, sentences to trace and blank lines. The children should read the sentences (see if they can read the sentences independently), and then write their own short, simple sentence about the picture on the lines. It does not matter if they cannot spell a word correctly. If they find it too difficult to write a sentence independently you could dictate a sentence to them. If you do not have a printer you could show your child the picture on the screen and let them read the sentences then write on a piece of paper.

Maths:

  • Counting video:

Have a good week!

Flat Stanleys!

This week junior infants listened to the story ‘Flat Stanley’ and then made their own little characters to take on adventures!

Everywhere Bear wants all the boys and girls to see the adventures he has been on-he has been a very busy little bear!

He has done lots of gardening, fed the birds, climbed a tree, went for a drive, chilled out in the sun, went for a walk and then after all of that he relaxed and watched Paw Patrol on T.V.
