Halloween in Senior Infants 🎃 👻

This month, in preparation for Hallowe’en, our role play corner transformed into a Witches’ Den. We had great fun dressing up as witches and other creatures, writing spells and potions and making potions using spider webs, creepy-crawlies and other disgusting ingredients.

On Friday, we all got to dress up in our Hallowe’en costumes and had a great day of fun and games. To finish off our theme of the witches’ den, we made some real witches’ potions and made them bubble over using vinegar and baking soda. We also made a lava lamp using oil and water, food colouring and made it come alive using an effervescent tablet. The kids really enjoyed these science experiments.

Sports Day

Senior Infants had a fantastic day at Sports Day, taking part in many races, including a marathon race, sprinting race, sack race, crawling race, backwards race and an egg and spoon race. We had loads of fun!

School Tour to Greenan Maze

Senior Infants had a fantastic day at Greenan Maze for their first ever school tour, and for many their first ever bus journey! We did lots of fun activities throughout the day.

We had to find our way to the middle of the big maze and then back out again. We then played a trust exercise in the smaller maze where the children had to guide their partner through the maze with their eyes closed.

Next were some field games which included sheep target practice and a wheelbarrow race.

We had lots of fun in the playground too!

After lunch, we got to see the farm animals. We even got to feed a lamb and the pigs! We finished with a nature walk through the beautiful woodland area, where we saw fairy doors, dragonflies, a frog pond and much more!

Busy Bees in Senior Infants

We had a busy March and April in Senior Infants. We learned about Weight using balances. We learned all about the Garden Centre, setting up our own pretend garden centre in the class, and planting shamrock seeds too. We also dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day and learned some Irish dancing steps for Seachtain na Gaeilge.
