Badminton Club Update
The St. Joseph’s Gorey Badminton Club is thriving with more members than ever before! Open to 5th and 6th class students, our club has been buzzing with excitement as we focus on improving our doubles game skills. The team has been working hard in preparation for the upcoming Leinster competition in January, and everyone is giving their best effort during practice. Recently, we were fortunate to have Garry from Leinster Badminton visit the school to lead a special training session, offering valuable tips and techniques to help us reach our full potential.
Rackard League rounders Champions!
Our 5th/6th class girls Rounders team have been crowned rounders champions on Friday21st June where they were playing the Ballagh. The girls made a great comeback during the second play to race into the lead and from there, they were not going to let that lead go. They all played their part on the day and it was wonderful to see our captain Aoife receive the prize on behalf of her teammates. well done girls.
Active week
Active Week has gotten off to a great start in St. Josephs. All classes are participating in a range of activities such as HITT, Yoga, Soccer leagues, Basketball, badminton, hockey, races, dance and lots more. 6th class designed obstacle courses for our younger classes. It is great to see all the boys and girls trying their best in these activities and getting to try lots of new sports.
Active Walkway launch
Well done to all classes who got out and followed our active route around the school looking for clues at each post. Great teamwork by everybody and it was great to bring our learning and fun outdoors and get in extra steps as well. We look forward to using this again.
