Tour No.2 for 6th Class

Sixth Class had their second school tour of the year last Thursday, March 30th. We left shortly after 8am. Our first stop was Kilmainham Gaol where we spent a couple of hours in the company of tour guide David, who was very impressed with our knowledge. We went from there to Arbour Hill Cemetery to visit the graves of some of the leaders of the 1916 Rising. Our final stop was to the GPO Witness History Museum. The audio-visual presentation there made some of us feel like we were actually charging the GPO ourselves. We returned to Gorey at 5:30pm. A great day was had by all and we look forward to our next school tour on the 2nd of June to Dunmore Adventure.

6th Class & their Second School Tour

On March 30th 2016 6th class headed off to Dublin for a second time. The weather was good and spirits were high as we explored the paths of those who fought in 1916. Our tour began in Kilmainham Jail, our second stop was Arbour Hill Cemetery to visit the graves of the signatories and our final stop was the GPO where so much of the rising took place. A great day was had by all and we are now looking forward to school tour number 3!!

Shaving Foam Shamrocks

We painted shamrocks using a mixture of glue, shaving foam and green food colouring.

World Book Day in 6th Class

We did a few activities for World Book Day on the 2nd of March. First, we had DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time.

We then had a book- themed table quiz. The winners won a Homework Pass each.

We also designed National Book Tokens as part of the World Book Day UK and Irl competition.

Here are some of our designs:
