The Doctor’s Surgery in Junior Infants
Our aistear theme for the month was the doctor’s surgery. We really enjoyed the role play station – being the patients and working as doctors and receptionists. At the playdoh station we finished hospital themed pictures and made different medical tools – stethoscopes, thermometers, syringes, tablets etc. We also performed operations using the game “Operation”.
At the art station we made x-rays, doctors’ coats and stethoscopes. We also successfully put Humpty Dumpty back together again. He got plastered!!
Science Week in Room 1
To celebrate Science Week we did two experiments. The first experiment explored what happens to skittles when warm water is added. Below are our predictions:
We enjoyed seeing the skittles dissolve in the warm water to form a beautiful rainbow. We realised that the base of the skittles had lost their colour in the water and turned white.
The second experiment explored what happens to raisins when they are added to sparkling water. These were our predictions:
We were very surprised to see the raisins dancing in the jars of sparkling water!
Look Back: September/October
We had a great first two months in Junior Infants. Below are photographs of our structured play/Aistear morning activities.
We went on a walk to look for signs of autumn.
We decorated our names, did our handprints and created a class jigsaw.
Below is our autumn art display.
