Third Class Work for March 30th – April 3rd

Hello Third Class,

I hope you are all keeping well, staying safe and washing your hands! The work for the week starting March 30th is as follows:

Gaeilge:

There are some lovely videos online on the RTÉ player which have Irish cartoons to watch.

Maths:

  • Continue with Mental Maths/problem solving each day.

  • Daily revision of tables, remember we have covered X2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and the same in division.
Topmarks “Hit the Button” website is great for revision of tables! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

  • For the chapter on Weight, we would be focusing on grams and kilograms. Check what items in your house have “g” or “kg”. If you are baking, you could help out measure the ingredients using a weighing scale!

English:

  • Continue with Read At Home, do the next week of reading (essential). If you want to practice your handwriting, you can write out the answers to the questions at the end (optional).

  • Spellings: myth, lynx, lyrics, syrup, pyramid, idyllic, symbol, Egypt, typical, syllable, sympathy, mystery.

  • You can check the meanings of these words in the dictionary and learn the spelling.
    Remember, Look, Say, Cover, Write.

  • Keep reading books, for at least 15 minutes a day.

  • Free writing – You could keep a diary during this time or write short stories if you wish.

Then some choice work on SESE and art!

Art:

  • You can create anything artistic this week, there are some lovely ideas on Pinterest to try make! A nice poster, painting – anything creative! Be as inventive and crazy as you can! Maybe an Easter card!

SESE: History, Geography, Science:

  • You can research Ancient Greece and Rome or anything historical which may interest you. You might even have books at home that are about an interesting historical topic.

  • Look at maps of Ireland and look at the counties of Ireland. As we were learning about mountains (fold mountains, block mountains and volcanoes, you could watch educational videos about them and research about mountains in Ireland – where is the highest mountain? What mountains are in Leinster?

PE: Go Noodle have some great workouts as does John Wicks – The Body Coach. His videos are available on YouTube.

*Any child doing SNIP can continue to do one per fortnight. Read for 15 minutes a night and look up two new/difficult words per day. A Joe Wicks 5 or 8 minute movement break online each day too.

*SNIP is available online to download and print.

I hope you are keeping safe and healthy. Mind yourselves.

Miss Kinsella
