Mrs. Lawlor’s Class: 18th-22nd of May

Hello again everyone! I cannot believe it is the middle of May already.

Here is work for you to do this week. Remember to try and do a little of each subject every day and keep a routine. Please do not get worried about getting all of this done. Just try your best.

Click here for a suggested timetable for this week. It is just a guideline. You can change it to suit yourselves.

This plan from NEPS might also prove useful.

My email address is claire.lawlor@stjosephsgorey.ie. You can use this to contact me or send me your work. I have seen lots of great work again this week. You are all super!

Many of you are finished your Fuaimeanna agus Focail, so here are other pages for you to do instead:

On Monday, I would like you to watch these videos of your reading for this week. Here is the first video and here is the second video. I had to split them because the app kept crashing. When you’re finished, please do this worksheet and click submit when done.

SESE:

This week we are going to look at the counties of Ireland and tourist attractions in Ireland.

On Monday, please print this worksheet. You label all of the counties within Ireland. When you think you’re ready, look up this website and try the counties quiz.

On Tuesday, complete these pages from your Small World book. This work is based on tourist attractions in Ireland.

If you’re feeling lucky, try the quiz on this website.

Dublin Zoo and Hook Lighthouse are two sites which are featured. Both sites have live webcams.

In Dublin Zoo, they have webcams on the African Savanna, the penguins and the elephants. Click here to see them.

Hook Lighthouse also has live webcams. Click here to see them.

On Wednesday and Thursday, I would like you to pick one county and do a little research on it. Here are worksheets to help. You also might like to try these counties word-searches.

Music:

Over the coming weeks, we are going to be listening to Carnival of the Animals by Camile Saint-Saens. Here is a short video about him. When you’re finished watching the video there are two simple worksheets for you to do. Click here for the first sheet and click here for the second sheet.

The first movement is called the Royal March of the Lions. A piano announces the entrance of the lion. The piano music going up and down through the scales represents the lion’s roar. Click here to listen to the piece of music. Here is a worksheet about the music and here is a worksheet to write about your response to the music. You can do this in your copy either.

Art:

Here is a video showing you how to draw a cartoon lion. Send me photos of your creations!

Religion:

Please continue to revise your prayers daily. Remember if you’ve lost your sheet you can click here to print and download another one.

We now know the first two verses of the Prayer After Communion. This week we are moving on to the third verse. Here is a poster for you to print and put on your fridge.

This week we are going to learn about receiving Holy Communion. Watch this video for an explanation.

Here is the video from Grow in Love showing people at Mass receiving Holy Communion:

Please complete the worksheet from your Grow in Love book below and then print and colour one of these sheets.

Even though we cannot attend Mass at the moment, St. Michael’s Church stream Mass live on the church website (www.stmichaelsgorey.ie) at 10am daily. They also broadcast it on the radio on 106FM.

For the month of May, they will also be streaming the rosary daily at 7pm. If you tune in on Mondays, you never know who you might see.

SPHE:

On Mondays we will be practising our Mindfulness. Click here for this week’s video and here are sheets for you to print and colour. Listen to some relaxing music while you’re colouring.

Over the next few weeks we will be working on this Weaving Well-being booklet. You can download and print it or do it in your copy. For this week, I want you to do pages 3 and 4.
