Schoolwork Monday June 15th – Friday June 19th

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well.

This week we are going to move away from the schoolbooks to do some more practical and fun activities.  Each day you have an activity in either Maths or English to complete as well as a wellness activity.  I have suggested a Mindfulness Brain Break Breathing exercise to begin each day with. If you can try to complete the exercise outside, if not try to find your favourite quiet corner inside.

As always you can contact me any time – mskennystjosephsgorey@gmail.com

Take care,

Ms.Kenny

Brain Break Breathing

English: Letter

  • As we were working on developing our recount writing during May, your task today is to write a letter or email (letter if possible as I think they are a little bit more special) to a friend or relation telling them your news. Try to choose someone who may not have many people to talk to during these times.

Wellness Week Activity: I am Amazing Person!

  • It is important to take the time to appreciate how special and amazing you are, especially during these current times. Your task is to think about all the special qualities and talents you have and finish the sentences on the balloons below. You could discuss the sentences or write out and complete each sentence.  Click on the worksheet to see it in full view.

Maths : Maths Trail 1

  • This week we are going to work on practical Maths Trail Activities. The following are your maths trail questions for today. You can write down your answers in your copy. Click on the worksheet to see it in full view.

Wellness Week Activity: Coping Toolbox

  • At times, life can be a little upside down with different changes as we have learned in recent weeks. It is important to find ways to relax and cope in order to help our minds to switch off from worries we may have. Your task is to create a Coping Toolbox: Find a box, container or even just a special place to place the items. Fill the box with things which remind you of good times or will help you feel better. Examples: Photos, drawings, a special gift which someone has given you, a sachet of hot chocolate, a bath bomb, a list of activities you can do to relax.   If you do not wish to find the items, you can simply draw a toolbox and draw the items in the box.

Wellness Week Activity: Acts of Kindness

Wellness Week Activity: Appreciation Jar

  • Your task today is to create an Appreciation Jar. Over the past number of weeks, we may have come to appreciate the smaller things in life or we may have realised how much we should appreciate some parts of our life that we currently are unable to experience. These are things which we may have not taken much notice of or appreciated before because we are usually so busy going to school, attending clubs and going on outings. Your task is to find jar and decorate it however you wish. Then write on slips of paper the simple things you will appreciate or reminders of what is important when lockdown is over. Examples include seeing a special relative, taking a walk on the beach, playing a game with a friend etc. You can also include in your jar the things you have enjoyed about lockdown that you would like to continue once lockdown is over. Examples include spending more time with your family, enjoying nature, playing with a pet etc. When life returns to normal once again, take the time to reread these slips and appreciate the important things in life.
